What is Yi Jing?
The Yi Jing is a text that contains a set of predictions, represented by a set of 64 line arrangements. These line arrangements are known as hexagrams. Each line - there are 6 lines in a hexagram - yang or yin - yang are solid unbroken lines whilst yin lines are broken with a gap in the middle. When stacked from the bottom to the top, 64 possible combinations can be derived.
To consult the Yi Jing as an oracle one must first have a question in mind. The hexagram is determined in various methods, depending on what system is being used by the consultant. Once the hexagram is cast each line is denoted as either changing or unchanging. In the case of a changing line it is viewed as being in the process of becoming its opposite and so a new hexagram can be formed by transposing each changing yin line with a yang line and vice versa. We then gain insight into the process of change and the result of this change by reading the text of the moving line.
A Yi Jing assessment provides specific answers to any specific questions you may have about an event or endeavour. It focuses on one aspect at a particular point in time in your life. It gives you an insight into a situation and what course of action to take in order to arrive at a satisfactory outcome.
